If this sounds like your cup of tea (or glass of wine) then we have 2 early industrial worker cottages for you. Both in the nearby Derwent Valley town of Belper in the heart of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. Choose from :
A delightful little Derbyshire gritstone cottage dating to around 1820. Likely built by William Strutt, the first son of industrialist Jedediah Stutt.
Frith Cottage, which takes its name from the Medieval Royal Hunting Forest the Duffield Frith, is beautifully decorated with a nod to its Regency past. The ‘rustic Regency’ decor adds a hint of luxury to this lovely little cottage, making it warm and inviting whilst being contemporary and beautiful. Furniture, soft furnishings and fabrics add a vintage touch. Original art by well known Derbyshire artists depicting Derbyshire landscapes and views adorn the walls.
Frith Cottage sleeps 2-3 people. A well equipped kitchen and clean, white shower room with a high quality shower and WC, central heating and great little wood burning stove completes the interior package.
The terraced garden provides a private sheltered seating area and a fabulous little patio with a Mary Poppins-like rooftop view of Belper and its Countryside. There is also a built-in outdoor BBQ that guests are free to use to make the most of the garden. Free WiFi.
All linens and towels are provided. Wood available to purchase for the stove and is sourced from our own woodlands. No Pets.
Strutt Cottage is a welcoming, cosy cottage with vintage touches and a relaxing feel. Built around 1820 of local gritstone by the eldest son of the industrialist Jedediah Strutt, William, for the mill workers of Belper, this cottage is perfect for couples. One bedroomed Strutt Cottage will melt your heart and is a great place for a romantic short break. Indeed, the question has been ‘popped’ here at least once!
It contains a well-equipped kitchen, clean pleasant bathroom with new electric shower, a surprisingly spacious double bedroom and a cosy living room with a convincing but easy to use cast iron real flame gas fire. All linen and towels supplied and free WiFi is also available. Pets by arrangement.
We look forward to welcoming you to Derbyshire and our Vineyard !
